“What is your favorite artwork?”
Curatorial Rationale
In this exhibition, my exploration is around the beauty of life, where there are different states of life that we need to appreciate more, that we don't give enough attention to. In my artworks, I wanted to bring different perspectives, such as using different points of view and also using different media to create my artworks, which is why I picked these artworks. One of the artworks that inspired me the most, that I created, is “A call to remember.” Through this collage, I got to see a different perspective for my future artworks. Which inspired me to do my artwork through what I feel and see life as. Throughout the theme of the beauty of life, it gave me a lot more options to bring different perspectives and show beauty in many different ways, and show through the experience of life, nature, culture, and other points of life.
Through the arrangement of my artwork, I wanted to show a different way of looking at life. I began on the left side of the wall with pieces that focus on personal life experiences. As the viewer moves toward the center, the artworks become broader in meaning, showing a wide range of how beauty is expressed in different forms. For example, “Simple Living” represents everyday life, while “A Call to Remember” serves as a central piece that draws full attention. I placed these works in the middle so viewers could connect the different pieces and see how each one contributes to a larger story. On the right side, the artworks focus more on nature and its simple beauty. Each of the artwork brings a different beauty to life and may show a different perspective to the viewers to make them connect in having a similar way of looking at life.
Each of the artwork shows the similarities to different lives, but each has its significance by bringing out a beautiful background to understanding life. To convey the simplicity of life and the value of appreciating the small things in life, I choose to depict the simple life in my artwork and include a message of encouragement. Additionally, there are the wonderful things that we overlook in our daily lives. To my viewers: cherish every moment, because time moves quickly—and if we don’t take the time to truly enjoy life, those moments will slip away unnoticed.

Beauty of Fall
Fabric paint on fabric
65cm x 63.5 cm
I was inspired to create this artwork by the beauty of the fall season, mostly because of the unique differences of colors and shapes found in the autumn leaves. This artwork aims to capture the essence of change, growth, and the quiet elegance of autumn while showcasing the season's natural beauty. Working with fabric and fabric paint was a fun and creative process, and I loved how the intricate details of the leaves appeared on the fabric, adding a beautiful touch to the piece.

Flying Towards Freedom
Pencil and colored pencil on paper
22.9 cm x 30.5 cm
In this artwork, I was inspired by a young girl from Afghanistan who dreams of flying like a bird, symbolizing her hope for freedom and a brighter future for her country. So, I created this artwork to illustrate how freedom is essential, it's the key to truly living and pursuing one's dreams. The connection to my theme conveys that life can not be beautiful without freedom. The color red symbolizes hope to show this girl’s hope that she is still reaching for her dreams.

The Beauty of Love
Wire, air-dry clay, and wood
34 cm x 16.3 cm x 20 cm
In this artwork, I was inspired by a ceramic sculpture depicting the anatomy of a hug, with hearts connected at the center. I loved how it symbolized love and human connection. I wanted this sculpture to represent love and the deep connection when two people hug each other. Working with wire and air-dry clay was interesting, but I faced challenges. In the end, the imperfect wires reminded me of how we are all different, yet we still love and connect to our loved ones.

Echoes of Nature
Ceramics

This artwork was inspired by the gift of nature and how birds feel like the voice of it, creating a quiet connection with anyone who pays attention. The water fountain is at the heart of this moment. It brings birds back daily, giving them life and letting us experience their presence. Turning this into a sculpture feels special because it brings this scene to life, showing us how meaningful and beautiful these simple natural moments can be.

This is the scene of the family dinner on a Saturday night, where the family enjoys the dinner and chats while being together.

Early Life
Paint on canvas
40cm x 30 cm
I was inspired by how most of the time I asked people, What’s the beauty of life. Most of them said childhood, and I wondered why they said we loved to explore and go to nature, and we saw different things with our eyes than now, as we are older. This is why I did this painting of childhood, and how early life is seen to be more beautiful than another part of life, it's for times that will be missed. Painting this was fun since paint has a lot of characteristics and makes things beautiful.

Traditional Courtyard
Acrylic paint on canvas
32 cm x 22.5 cm
In this piece of artwork, I was inspired by the Artwork of Mission San Juan Capistrano by Alexander Francis Hammer. His artwork reminded me of the cultural Middle East house courtyards, which brought out the beauty of spring. It was also inspired by the New Year's “Nowruz” because that's what this artwork by Harmer reminded me of, a welcoming home in the season of spring. Painting was a great way to show this because of the vibrant colors and spring colors.

End of Childhood

17 cm x 14.5 cm x 13.5
In this piece of artwork, I was inspired by a picture of a man selling balloons on his bike, which kind of reminded me of my last years of childhood and also my last year of school in my home country. I had missed most of my memories from back then, so I tried to bring them to life. Which is my dad biking me to school. The techniques that I used made me look better, and I enjoyed using them for my project as well.

Same Place Different Stories
Watercolor on paper
45.5 cm x 31.4 cm
I was inspired to create this piece of art by an apartment that had multiple windows that portrayed different families or individuals engaged in various activities. This got me thinking about how each person's life is distinct and different, which is what makes each life unique and delightful in its own special way. Watercoloring was an enjoyable and simple task. Because of the watercolor, it made the art pieces look vibrant and joyful in this type of way.
